July 29, 2015
AIP Foundation is in Washington, D.C. this week attending the 2015 Child Injury Prevention Convention, PREVCON, hosted by Safe Kids Worldwide. From 29 July to 1 August, 2015, the convention brings together injury prevention leaders and advocates from across the United States and around the world.
A diverse group of over 60 expert speakers will exchange experiences on safety initiatives and explore effective communication strategies, coalition development, and program evaluation through hands-on workshops.
Representing AIP Foundation is Nuong Nguyen, Director of Programs in Vietnam. She will share insights on impactful and adaptable road safety models that combine legal advocacy, targeted enforcement, media campaigns, and grassroots education to affect positive, large-scale behavior change in developing countries.
PREVCON is designed to spark new ideas, drive innovative approaches to safety, and contribute overall to Safe Kids’ decade goal of halving the average number of fatalities from preventable injuries by 2020.
Since 2009, AIP Foundation as Safe Kids Vietnam has implemented the Safe Kids Walk This Way program across five schools in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, reaching 4,000 children and 300 teachers. The Walk This Way program, launched globally in 1999 by Safe Kids Worldwide and FedEx, delivers school-based trainings in pedestrian safety.
