The Saigon Urban Arts Festival: Promoting street art for sustainable change in our community

March 19, 2022

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – March 19, 2022

Creative expression through urban public street art is more than just claiming space, it’s a visual expression that inspires social change for a sustainable future. This weekend, the Saigon Urban Arts Festival, brought together artists, families, students, and social changemakers for a fun-filled day at the unique and scenic outdoor Hoang Van Thu Park, in Tan Binh district, open to the public for the first time!

UN Sustainable Development Goals for a Sustainable Future

The theme for this year’s Saigon Urban Arts Festival were the Sustainable Development Goals as outlined by the United Nations. Through various activities, the festival posted the question: How can you contribute personally to reach those goals? We can only achieve the SDGs through understanding, engaging, and acting by working together towards achieving the goals.

AIP Foundation x Saigon Urban Arts Festival

The AIP Foundation booth was led by our youth leaders, My Huynh and Quyen Nguyen. Our team participated in the event, raising their voices for a sustainable future in our community through art and visual expressions. Visitors to the booth were able to learn more about the SDGs, how we can all make a difference as well as brush up on their knowledge thanks to trivia games.

Throughout the day, we were representing SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, whose goal it is to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. At our custom-made chalk painting corner, visitors were able to express their creative thoughts on what their ideal cities and streets would look like.
