9685926812_ddeb69be59_cOn September 5, 2013, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Traffic Safety Committee (TSC), Police Department, and the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation celebrated the launch of Phase III of the “Children also need a helmet” campaign at Le Van Tam primary school in the Tan Phu District of Ho Chi Minh City.

Phase III of the campaign will run from September to December 2013 and will include many components aimed at increasing the helmet use rates among children including in-class education, online media, police enforcement, and upgrading the roles of road safety partners.

The rate of helmet use among children in Ho Chi Minh City has increased significantly since Phase I of the campaign, from 22 to 48.6 percent. Due to the large gap in helmet use rates between adults and children, AIP Foundation will continue to coordinate with stakeholders and create targeted activities to increase the child helmet use rate to 80 percent.
