Under the Chevron Street Wise program, a Road Safety Week was held for secondary students at Woranari Chaloem School in Songkhla province. Now in its eighth phase, the program is being implemented by AIP Foundation with support from Chevron Thailand.
As part of the Road Safety Week, on July 8th, more than 600 Grade 10 students attended the special Carbon Footprint training, serving as peer leaders. The workshop, led by certified trainers from PERIN, aimed at promoting safe and sustainable school communities. Attendees included the Governor of Songkhla, the Director and teachers from Woranari Chaloem School, Chevron Thailand, and faculty from the Prince of Songkhla University.
The Road Safety Week integrates road safety with carbon footprint education, with three key objectives: reducing road crashes among youth in Grades 7–12, with a particular focus on helmet use; building climate awareness by training Grade 10 students to measure CO₂ emissions from their school commutes; and mobilizing government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders to support Thailand’s national “100% Helmet Use” agenda.
The workshop opened with welcome remarks by Mr. Wirach Chusin, Director of Woranaree Chalerm School, followed by a presentation on the project objectives by Ms. Kandharmanee Nippanchai, Senior Program Consultant at AIP Foundation. The opening ceremony was led by Mr. Rattasart Chidchu, Governor of Songkhla Province.
Participants then took part in a training session on “Assessing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Daily Activities,” led by Dr. Charongphan Musikawong, Director of the Circular Economy and Greenhouse Gas Engineering Center at the Faculty of Education, Prince of Songkla University. The workshop concluded with a “Safe Roads, Green World” group activity, encouraging students to connect road safety with environmental sustainability.
