While young people live in different contexts, their aspirations for safer, more inclusive, and sustainable communities are shared. In An Giang and Vinh Long, students have turned these aspirations into action as equal partners in shaping safer and more liveable cities.

On July 29 and 31, the AIP Foundation, together with the Departments of Education and Training and Departments of Construction of An Giang and Vinh Long, hosted the Youth Action for Liveable Cities forums. Supported by Google.org and delivered in technical partnership with the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), the forums brought together students from 18 schools, provincial leaders, and local authorities as equal partners to share ideas, exchange perspectives, and discuss solutions for safer school journeys and more liveable communities.
“I believe the YEA app is an extremely practical tool that gives us the opportunity to become “junior scouts” directly identifying, reporting, and assessing the danger levels of roads around our schools. To help spread this model, our Children’s Council serves as a bridge between children and local authorities. We collect and track feedback submitted through the YEA app, identify common road-safety concerns, and submit proposals to the relevant authorities so that timely action can be taken.” shared by Nguyen Quynh Lan, a representative of An Giang Provincial Children’s Council. The initiative reflects International Youth Day 2026, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” Over the coming months, nearly 900 youth from 28 high schools in the AI&Me: Youth Action for Liveable Cities project, supported by the FIA Foundation and Fondation Botnar, will lead 28 school projects and engage decision-makers to present their ideas and co-create solutions for safer, more liveable communities.
Through these initiatives, youth are not only future leaders but partners and changemakers today.
