SONGKHLA Province, Thailand – 4 July 2026

In an effort to build a road safety network across the province, stimulate school-wide actions, and connect student safety to environmental responsibility, teachers from 11 schools across Songkhla engaged in master training on the Thailand Safe Youth (TSY) program. Implemented by AIP Foundation under the Chevron Street Wise program, funded by Chevron Thailand, the master training aims to enable teachers to integrate road safety survival skills into school curricula and effectively facilitate road safety contests and activities. 

The Thailand Safe Youth program provided training by hospital professionals, local public health experts, and representatives from Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Region 12, Songkhla for teachers, educating them on evidence-based road survival skills that can be passed onto students. Other key activities included: 

• A session on curriculum integration aimed at helping teachers embed road safety into regular class lessons, led by the Songkhla Public Health Office
• Sharing of best practices facilitated by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Region 12, Songkhla
• Group brainstorming session, an exploration of the SHELL Model alongside frameworks for managing risks, and school contest story board planning, where each school’s teachers created contests that their students will participate in to gather measurable road safety results 

These collaborative sessions with local experts showcased the province’s existing capacity for road safety. Later in the week, trained teachers will apply their freshly-acquired skills during the Street Wise Road Safety Week by participating in a Carbon Footprint training for secondary students.
