HANOI, Vietnam – January 18, 2022

As part of the first phase of theSlow Zones, Safe Zonesprogram, a nationwide traffic safety e-curriculum was developed, comprised of a total of ten lessons, featuring interactive videos, games, and activities to teach students life-saving skills related to safer road behaviors. In order to progress towards the final stage of national adoption, a final appraisal meeting was held to confirm the revised e-curriculum by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) Appraisal Committee.

The e-curriculum provides a student-centered education tool for primary students to learn the essential skills for traffic safety effectively and creatively from a young age. Once it has been revised, finalized, and approved, it will be hosted on an online platform by the Ministry of Education and Training. The AIP Foundation team is currently working on completing the final revisions that came up during the appraisal meeting. The e-curriculum has also been tested by 1,485 students from geographically diverse regions, with a statistically significant difference between the mean knowledge scores of all grade levels, when comparing the control schools and the intervention schools.

Supported by Fondation Botnar, GRSP, Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), as well as by the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), the Traffic Safety Committee and local stakeholders of Gia Lai province,Slow Zones, Safe Zonesprogram aims to reduce road crash injuries and fatalities in school zones in Vietnam.
