BANGKOK, Thailand – August 30th, 2023

An Educational Sharing Forum was hosted as part of Phase III of theVIA Road Safety Education Programmein Thailand. The goal of the forum was to promote dialogue and experience sharing on the practical implementation of theVIA Programme. TheVIA Programmeis supported by TotalEnergies Foundation and The Michelin Foundation and managed by the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP). In Thailand, the program is implemented by the AIP Foundation Thailand country office.

Together, we can save young lives on the road

This year, the Education Sharing Forum brought together key representatives from other countries implementing theVIA Programme, including India, Kenya, and Uganda. Each representative exchanged their experiences on successful stories, strategies, and survey findings from the implementation phases 1-2-3 as well as ideas for improvement and innovation in future phases of the program. The Forum also provided a unique opportunity to facilitate the discussions between VIA implementation countries, stakeholders from the private sector, and government sector engagement.

Celebrating two successful years of VIA in Thailand

At its core, theVIA Programmeempowers teachers to educate children between 10 to 18 years old on road safety, aiming to improve their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to road safety as well as enhance the capacity of school teachers to deliver road safety training to students.

During Phase I implementation in 2021, theVIA Programmebenefitted over 321 students, 15 teachers, and 11 classes across five different schools in Phra Pradaeng District with active engagement from Michelin and TotalEnergies representatives in Thailand.

Phase 2 of the program was launched in May 2021 and has supported 51 trained teachers who started rolling outVIAModules in both online and on-site classrooms to reach the target of 5,500 students with 141 classes. Following these successes, Phase 3 of the program launched in March 2023 and aims to reach approximately 15,000 students from 14 schools.
