DA NANG, Vietnam - June 9, 2017

AIP Foundation joined Ford Vietnam to officially kick off the 10th year of the global Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program in Da Nang. The program aims to have at least 1,500 drivers participate in DSFL sessions this year, bringing the total number of participants since its launch in Vietnam in 2008 to 13,000. Ford offers the DSFL program at no cost to participants and in conjunction with its strategic partners that include the AIP Foundation and the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), as well as the support of its Ford dealers and local communities. AIP Foundation’s CEO, Mirjam Sidik, discussed Ford’s long-term partnership with the nonprofit during the launch event in Da Nang.

In 2017, DSFL will also bring safe driving training courses to transportation companies in key cities. These mobile sessions will have the aim of promoting traffic safety awareness among public transportation suppliers and public drivers in Vietnam to help decrease the number of accidents caused by commercial vehicles.

In addition to the DSFL event, the Ford Fund announced its support of the Smarter Da Nang Project that will help to create a civilized, safe and convenient transport environment for the Vietnamese community. With the support of the Ford Fund, Ford Vietnam will provide 50 traffic cameras to the 0511 Smart Camera System in Da Nang city, in which the APEC 2017 meeting will take place.
