AIP Foundation has been awarded the iF Social Impact Prize, which comes with funding to expand youth participation in road safety decision-making in Vietnam through its innovative Youth Engagement App (YEA) and Empowering Youth for Livable Cities program.
Road crashes remain the leading cause of death for children and young adults worldwide, yet young people’s experiences and perspectives are rarely included in decisions about improving mobility. This funding will continue to help bridge that gap by equipping students with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to identify road safety risks, develop evidence-based solutions, and engage directly with local decision-makers through the Youth Engagement App.

Building on the Youth Engagement App, first developed in 2021, this funding will support our young leaders in co-designing healthy and safe zone initiatives based on the findings from the Youth Engagement App.

By fostering meaningful dialogue between youth and government authorities, the project recognizes young people as equal partners in designing safer streets and strengthens accountability for community-centered road safety solutions.
“This funding is an important recognition that young people must be part of the conversation on road safety,” said Trang Truong, Senior Program Manager at AIP Foundation. “Too often, young people experience unsafe roads without having a meaningful way to influence change. Through the Youth Engagement App and our empowerment workshops, we are creating pathways for youth to share their experiences, co-design solutions, and work alongside decision-makers to build safer, more inclusive communities.”

This program reflects AIP Foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based road safety solutions. By placing youth voices at the center of urban mobility planning, the initiative will help create lasting improvements to road safety while fostering a new generation of engaged civic leaders.

This initiative was selected by iF for funding in recognition of its innovative approach to youth participation, human-centered design, and community-led road safety solutions. The support will enable AIP Foundation and its partners to further enhance the Youth Engagement App, deliver youth empowerment training, and help ensure that more young people can actively shape safer, more inclusive mobility systems across Vietnam.
