June 4, 2015

Teacher trainers received certificates upon completion of the training course

As part of the Street Wise project supported by Chevron, AIP Foundation is organizing a three-day training workshop for 18 teachers from primary schools in Songkhla. “Master Trainers” are receiving training in road safety education in order to create a sustainable road safety culture at their schools. These trainers will train other Primary School teachers with the skills to confidently teach road safety education to their students.

The workshop will equip “Master Trainers” with:

–         Knowledge of child road safety issues relevant to primary school aged children

–         Knowledge of the primary level teaching and learning materials

–         Experience of practical behavioral learning of road skills

–         Techniques for training and motivating teachers

–         Guidance for conducting demonstration lessons with children

–         Practice of training techniques

–         Direct experience of a one day teacher training format

–         Tools to undertake the Master Trainer role such as PowerPoint presentations for training teachers and conducting parent school meetings

“Master Trainers” will in turn provide teachers of Grades 2 and 4 at their schools with a full day of training on how to teach road safety education to students. Teachers will use educational materials developed during the workshop. Participants who successfully complete trainings will be awarded with a certificate for their role in delivering road safety education.

On the second day of training, June 5, 2015, AIP Foundation, Chevron, and Wi Chian Chom School will sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The five additional project schools from Singhanakhon District previously signed MoUs with Chevron and AIP Foundation in September 2014.
