“Love your Child, Provide a Helmet” Campaign kicks off the Safety Delivered program at Doi Can Primary School

November 15, 2019

To commemorate the upcoming World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims and to celebrate the launch of the Safety Delivered program at Doi Can Primary School, AIP Foundation hosted a special helmet handover ceremony for nearly 760 students, with the support of The UPS Foundation. The event was held in collaboration with the Thai Nguyen Province Traffic Safety Committee and Department of Education and Training, and was presided over by Mr. Tran Huu Minh, the Deputy Chief of the National Traffic Safety Committee’s Office.

Colonel Nguyen Van Vui, Deputy Director of Thai Nguyen Province Police and Deputy Head of Thai Nguyen Traffic Safety Committee; Ms. Nguyen Duc Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; and Mr. Hoang Duc Minh, Deputy Chief Inspectorate from the Department of Transport, were also present.

The event’s theme, “Love your Child, Provide a Helmet,” was drawn from prior public awareness campaigns created by AIP Foundation, which aimed to encourage parents to think about the positive messages they can send to their children by providing them helmets.

During the ceremony, Hoang Thi Na Huong, AIP Foundation, Deputy CEO, as well as representatives and volunteers from UPS, demonstrated to students the three steps required for correctly wearing a helmet, including how to check for correct helmet fit, proper use of a chin strap, and proper head coverage.

“We are happy to see the impact from UPS’s ‘Love your child, provide helmet’ and the strong commitment from local partners. The project embraces such a meaningful message, through which we hope to raise awareness of helmet use and basic road safety knowledge in primary schools,” said Mr. Tran Huu Minh.

The event concluded with a symbolic motorcycle parade, in which stakeholders, government representatives, and 50 parents drove the children on the main streets of Thai Nguyen.

Additional kick-off ceremonies have also been held in Kim Dong, Dong Down Khue, and Phu Thuong 1 Primary school in Thai Nguyen. The Safety Delivered program, supported by The UPS Foundation, donated a total of 5,120 helmets to 11 schools across Thai Nguyen. Earlier this month, the program also organized an orientation workshop and teacher training for teachers and parent representatives from all project schools.
