THAI NGUYEN City, Vietnam – November 3, 2021
As part of one of our signature programs, Safety Delivered, supported by The UPS Foundation, the AIP Foundation team hosted an orientation workshop and teacher training in Thai Nguyen City for our Government partners. Gearing up for the helmet handover ceremony to be held at the end of the month, dedicated representatives from the Traffic Safety Committee of Thai Nguyen Province, Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen Province, and school teachers gathered for the event.
The workshop began with an opening speech by Mr. Tran Van Long, Deputy Director of the Traffic Safety Committee of Thai Nguyen province. Then AIP Foundation presented the project work plan and roles and responsibilities of the School Management Boards and teachers in implementing the work plan. Local government representatives, school principals, and teachers showed their strong commitment to successful achievement of the program outcomes.
Current updates on the laws and regulations of helmet wearing and technical information about standard helmets and proper helmet use were highlighted. These updates are key for local government representatives to be able to contribute to the implementation of the program. All stakeholders discussed the upcoming kick-off event that will be hosted to hand over the helmets to the students at school. 20 teachers from 5 program schools also participated in the teacher training, to be better equipped with knowledge and skills on helmet safety, as well as to pass them on to their primary school students.
Safety Delivered is a program implemented by AIP Foundation to work with primary school students and motorcyclists in high-risk areas in India, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam by educating youth on safe driving skills as well as increasing helmet use among children. During the next two years, the Safety Delivered program will distribute 4,900 helmets to students and teachers from ten program schools in Ho Chi Minh and Thai Nguyen province Vietnam.
