Four months after the Legal Development Program’s Seminar on School Bus Safety and Standards, five organizations including the Department of Land Transport (DLT), the Ministry of Education, the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), the Road Safety Group Thailand, and Taxi-Beam met to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the “School Bus be Safe Care” project.

The five organizations will work together under the “School Bus be Safe Care” project to establish appropriate safety requirements for school buses, set up participatory school bus management, and develop a school bus tracking system. They will also launch a new model for school bus management called the Chanthaburi School Bus Pilot Project in Chanthaburi province later this year and eventually expand it to other provinces.

LDP Thailand is a collaboration between the AIP Foundation and the World Health Organization aiming to reduce road crash injuries and fatalities through legislative improvement, supported by the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
