The Chuandongbei (CDB) natural gas project – a joint venture between Chevron and China National Petroleum Company – is working with AIP Foundation on a project that aims to improve the safety of pedestrian children in the gas sites in Sichuan province, China. To prepare for this project, GHVI’s Regional Director traveled to the field sites to work with the new China Country Manager. A survey will be run by Sichuan University’s School of Public Health to collect baseline data which will both provide information for the design of the project activities as well as enable its evaluation. Questionnaires were tested and focus group discussions led in schools in rural Chengdu. Meetings with the government allowed for further planning of the project details.
