Helmet Vaccine Initiative – Tanzania observes World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

On November 19th, the Helmet Vaccine Initiative- Tanzania (HVI-T), and Tanzania Traffic Police observed World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims at Mkoani Primary School in Coast Region, Tanzania. At the event, commanding Officer of Tanzania Traffic, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Mpinga distributed 260 hanging reflectors to students to increase their visibility as pedestrians. The reflectors were received by HVI-T as a donation from the World Health Organization and distributed to students to keep them safe as they walk along the road to school.Commissioner Mpinga made a speech expressing his commitment to increasing road safety. He instructed all traffic police to increase enforcement of helmet wearing among motorcycle drivers and passengers and traffic regulations among car and bus drivers. The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is observed on every 3rd Sunday of November of each year. HVI-T organized its observance on November 19th in order to reach students during the school week.
