QUANG NGAI, Vietnam – March 26, 2022
All around the world, children travel to and from school differently. Some children ride the school bus or take the car with their parents. Some children are able to walk safely to school, and some even ride their bikes. However, across Quang Ngai province, many primary schools are located on high-density traffic roads, often overflowing with heavy traffic. Children are at high risk on their way to getting their education.
To prevent further senseless risks, Prudential Vietnam is supporting the SAFE STEPS KIDS Road Safety Day as part of the SAFE STEPS KIDS – Road Safety (SSK-RS) program. The event is organized by AIP Foundation in collaboration with the provincial Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Ngai and other local project partners, mitigating the risks students experience every single day by providing students safe equipment and proper road traffic education.
The fun-filled Road Safety Day kicked off at Bo De primary school with nearly 700 students attending. Through interactive fun and games, students practiced their road safety skills and knowledge focusing on helmet use and pedestrian safety. This Road Safety Day is an opportunity to spread the achievements of interactive and participative methods of the program for road safety education. The day symbolizes a key meaningful message to parents, policymakers, and local residents in the community on establishing a safe school environment and providing road safety education to primary students.
Mr. Le Dung, Principal of Bo De school shared, “we have always integrated traffic safety into daily teaching following the primary curriculum. With the support of the SSK- Road Safety project, the lessons provided for students were upgraded. They can practice what they have learned, being fascinated by the project’s educational materials which improved their knowledge through concise information and attractive illustrations. It is our honor to be a part of the project.”
AIP Foundation is delighted to welcome the special participation and attendance from high-level representatives from Prudential Vietnam, the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Quang Ngai Trafic Safety Committee, and the Department of Education and Training. Our AIP Foundation project team including Nguyen Thi Quy Linh, National Program Director, and Nguyen Thi Huong Giang, Program Manager will also be participating throughout the day.
The SSK-RS program is part of the SAFE STEPS KIDS program, developed by the Prudence Foundation, in partnership with Cartoon Network and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC). The program aims to equip millions of children across Asia with actionable information designed to save lives in the event of emergencies or disaster situations. To date, the program has been deployed in Asia, in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. This is the second year that SAFE STEPS KIDS– Road Safety has been implemented in Vietnam.
