AIP Foundation CEO Mirjam Sidik is interviewed by Vietnam Television (VTV) following her presentation.

AIP Foundation CEO Mirjam Sidik attended the 12th International Conference for Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) in Ho Chi Minh City, where she presented on our Walk This Way program and its multi-sector approach to pedestrian safety in Vietnam. The theme of EASTS 2017 was “Vision and Action Programme for Safe, Green, and Integrated Transport.” The conference convened transport experts from 13 countries across the Asian region to discuss topics including application of intelligent transport systems, road safety for vulnerable road users, public transportation development, and ecological issues surrounding sustainable transportation development, among others.

The goal of Walk This Way is to improve the pedestrian safety culture in school zones by providing knowledge and skills to students and teachers; installing road environmental modifications around schools; and advocating the government to create safe school zones. Since we launched the program in Vietnam in 2009, it has reached 224,263 students from 278 schools across the country.
