AIP Foundation Thailand expands collaborations with key government stakeholders to deliver safety for all vulnerable road users across the country

March 14, 2022

BANGKOK, Thailand – March 14 – 28, 2022

In order to achieve the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030 as part of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, we cannot work alone. To solve the global road safety crisis, we must take action together. In Thailand, AIP Foundation Chairperson, Ratana H. Winther, and our program team met with key government stakeholders to share our key successes from 2021 and ensure our future collaboration in the years to come.

The AIP Foundation Thailand team met with the Strategy Division of the Royal Thai Police to seek future collaboration with the key Safe Road User hub and its networking partners. The Royal Thai Police showed keen interest and shared their recommendations for safer road users including a balance scorecard (reflecting on and recording internal work) that should be developed for new traffic law enforcement, as well as awareness-raising activities and media outlets to share safety information messages with the target population.

Toward the end of the month, the AIP Foundation Thailand team met with members of the Department of Land Transport (DLT) to present its 2022 projects across the country. The DLT also showed keen interest in partnering with AIP Foundation to ensure safe roads for life in their country. Their key recommendations included curriculum development and integration, as well as closer collaboration between AIP Foundation, DLT, and the Ministry of Education.

AIP Foundation Thailand has been delivering life-saving interventions since 2006. At the core of our programs, activities are empowering and engaging youth to be safer road users. Our programs are inherently aligned with the Global Plan and Thailand’s National Road Safety plan.
