AIP Foundation team participates at Safety 2024 and is awarded International Media Safety Awards 2024 for advocating for safer mobility across Asia Pacific

NEW DELHI, India – September 2-4, 2024

This week was exciting for the AIP Foundation team as we attended the Safety 2024 Conference with friends and partners in New Delhi, India. Mirjam Sidik, Chief Executive Officer and Hong Bui, Senior Program Manager at AIP Foundation joined the conference to share, learn and exchange with fellow members of the safe mobility community.

International Safety Media Awards 2024
AIP Foundation was delighted to be awarded with two gold awards as part of the 8th International Media Safety Awards 2024 (ISMA). The ISMA recognize high quality safety media from around the world. The awards for AIP Foundation’s work to promote safe, equitable and sustainable mobility were awarded as follows:

– Gold Award – Short Video Category – AI&Me Empowering Youth for Safer Roads Official Music Video. Please click here to view the video.

The AI&Me program, conducted over three years in Ho Chi Minh City, Pleiku City (Gia Lai Province), and Yen Bai City (Yen Bai Province), leveraged big data and digital technologies to engage young people in road safety efforts. It demonstrated how engaging dialogues among adolescents and decision-makers is vital to spark change toward a healthy environment for all stakeholders – for the successful engagement of over 9 million beneficiaries.

The Heads Up! project invited university students to take center stage by participating in a regional video competition to design effective communication campaigns, raising awareness for their peers and general road users of the life-saving importance of helmet safety.

Working toward safer roads together at Safety 2024

Key highlights from Safety 2024 include: sharing about helmet standards and helmet coalitions in the ‘Leaving no-one behind: Powered Two-wheelers Safety in the Sustainable Development Agenda’ workshop and state-of-the-art panel hosted by ADB, presenting the VIA in Thailand program successes as part of the poster display presenting on enhancing road safety for children in Vietnam: Impact of the Safe School Zones Guide sharing about the importance of youth empowerment through the AI&Me program presenting on youth participation and cycling safety in Vietnam

“Attending Safety 2024 this year presented a unique opportunity to engage with experts, policymakers, stakeholders and government officials from across the globe. By sharing insights, best practices, and innovative solutions during the three-day conference, we can now work together to address regional challenges and drive meaningful progress towards safer roads and a brighter, more connected future for all,” shares Mirjam Sidik, Chief Executive Officer at AIP Foundation about her participation at the conference.

More about Safety 2024

The 15th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion commonly referred to as Safety 2024 was held between 2nd-4th September 2024 at Taj Palace, New Delhi, India. Safety 2024 was a global event focusing on worldwide attention on safety and injury prevention. This year, the conference gathered international experts in the field with a united goal of “Building a safer future for all: Equitable and sustainable strategies for injury and violence prevention.
On the 3rd day of the conference, the Delhi Declaration was proclaimed. Read more about the Delhi Declaration from the Safety 2024 organizers: through Safety 2024 we want to explore the pressing global challenges of Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion while emphasizing principles of equity, accountability, and environmental sustainability to develop effective strategies to address injury and violence across the globe. Injury and violence are profound inequities, with over 90% of the burden borne by low and middle-income countries.
