AIP Foundation attends the Seminar on Road Safety in Southeast Asia: Issues and Prospects hosted in Bangkok Thailand

BANGKOK, Thailand – November 4, 2024

Mirjam Sidik and Ratana H. Winther, from AIP Foundation attended the Seminar on Road Safety in Southeast Asia: Issues and Prospects in Bangkok. The seminar gathered experts from Thailand, the United Nations and France, providing a comparative approach to global issues of road safety and formulating concrete recommendations. It also included three round-table discussions and presentations led by experts from various countries.

– Mirjam Sidik, CEO of AIP Foundation presented on ‘Community Behavior and Road Safety: Lessons from Vietnam and the Asia Pacific.’

– Ratana H Winther, Chairperson of AIP Foundation Thailand and Denmark presented on the following topic ‘Championing Helmet Safety: Public Policy as a Tool for Safer Roads in Thailand.’

The seminar was jointly organized by the French Embassy in Thailand and the Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC).

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Southeast Asia is the 2nd region in the world most affected by road deaths, and Thailand, the country with the highest road death rate in this region.
