SONGKHLA, Thailand – June 26, 2023

AIP Foundation has been working to promote safe, equitable, and sustainable mobility in Songkhla province, Thailand, for nine years with the Chevron Street Wise program. We are proud to work together with the provincial government of Songkhla to reduce the number of road injuries and fatalities by 50% by 2030, as set out by the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.

After nine years of successful collaboration, AIP Foundation is delighted to be appointed to the Sub-Committee on Road Safety for Children and Youth in Songkhla Province of Thailand. The appointment of AIP Foundation followed a meeting of the Road Safety Directing Center Committee No. 2/2023 in which the provincial government of Songkhla held a meeting to share lessons learned on how to safeguard vulnerable road users.

As an appointee on the Sub-Committee, AIP Foundation will support the provincial government of Songkhla with the following areas of safe mobility:
– Integrate the collaboration with the provincial policy to reduce child fatality in tangible approaches
– Monitor, evaluate, and report the project to the provincial government
– Strengthen youth leadership on road safety

“We are proud to work together with the Provincial Government of Songkhla for nine years to tackle the challenges of safe mobility that students face. It is truly an honor for AIP Foundation to be appointed to the Sub-Committee on Road Safety for Children and Youth in Songkhla. Together, we will take the lead for Songkhla Province to be a national leader for healthy, green and safe mobility for all,” shares Mirjam Sidik, Chief Executive Officer at AIP Foundation.

Safer mobility with the Chevron Street Wise program in Thailand

Chevron Thailand has partnered with AIP Foundation since 2014 to implement the Chevron Street Wise program to create a safer environment for road users – especially young children – through education, awareness-raising, as well as stakeholders and community engagement. During the project’s implementation, more than 8000 students demonstrated improved road safety knowledge and skills, and approximately 1,500,000 parents, teachers, and community members benefited from road safety education and communication activities.

The Chevron Street Wise program is inherently aligned with the Global Plan as part of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 – 2030 and Thailand’s National Road Safety plan. At the core of this program, all activities engage our youth to be a part of the solution to empower their community to be safer road users, thus giving them access to safe mobility.
