From August 25-29, 2013, AIP Foundation’s Cambodia Country Director Kim Pagna participated at the 21st World Conference on Health Promotion jointly organized by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) and Thai Health Promotion in Pataya, Thailand.

The conference “Best Investment for Health” aimed to advance global health and the field of health promotion through the effective presentation and dissemination of knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices. The Conference provided an opportunity for policy makers, advocates, global health researchers, academics, practitioners, and interested parties from all over the world to share and exchange their knowledge and experiences.

On the third day of the conference, Pagna made a presentation entitled “Prevalence of and barrier to motorcycle passenger helmet use in Cambodia”. The audience asked questions related to the study methodologies and sampling as well as about the general road safety situation in Cambodia particularly related to helmet use. Dozen copies of the Joint Statement “Motorcycle Passengers, including Children, Must Wear Helmets,” which was submitted to Cambodia’s Minister of Transport in January 2013, were distributed to participants.
